Teresa Giudice was worried her brother, Joe Gorga, would ruin her and Luis Ruelas‘ wedding before he and Melissa Gorga decided not to attend.
As Melissa suggested she and her husband did Teresa a favor by skipping the event, and Teresa admitted she was concerned about Joe’s potential theatrics, the Real Housewives of New Jersey cast, including Dolores Catania and Jennifer Aydin, who both served as bridesmaids, shared their thoughts about the pre-wedding family drama.
Looking back at the phone call with Melissa before Teresa’s big day on the May 16 episode of the RHONJ: After Show, Dolores admitted she knew it “was a problem” that Melissa and Teresa had a blowout at the prohibition party.
“I knew that this was two days before Teresa’s wedding,” Dolores shared. “I didn’t think there was enough time to come back from it before her wedding, and I don’t wanna be the one that’s told.”
That said, Dolores also felt that just as Melissa didn’t want to attend Teresa’s wedding, Teresa didn’t want her there.
“I think it was mutual at this point,” she noted.
And Teresa agreed, accusing the Gorgas of playing “games” for months.
“It’s been nothing but games. If they were upset about something, they should’ve checked out a long time ago,” she stated.
Meanwhile, Jennifer suspected Melissa and Joe were thrilled that the cheating rumor about Melissa was brought up because it gave them an out.
“[I was] worried that if this did come out that Joe and Melissa would use this … [as] a publicly valid reason to not go to the wedding,” she admitted. “But they know their hearts weren’t in it. They had no valid excuse to not want to go, so it was like, ‘Here’s our answer. Now if anybody comes at us, we can say, well, she said that I cheated, so why should I go to her wedding?’”
But according to Melissa, attending Teresa and Luis’ event “just didn’t feel right” after all that went down throughout production on RHONJ season 13.
“It felt like it would be more of a circus if we went than if we didn’t go, and I think we did them a favor by not going almost because it was about her and it was about that, and everyone doesn’t have to talk about the chaos that went down with us,” Melissa reasoned. “We just thought it would be crazy that Luis was literally charging me the night before to, like, attack me.”
“And the fact that she’s been trying to hurt my marriage and the two of them together sat my husband down, and then, what, I’m gonna sit in the pews and say ‘Happy marriage, good luck, and God bless?’” she wondered.
Although Teresa said she was “not surprised” that Melissa and Joe ultimately skipped her wedding, there was no love lost.
“It was very toxic, it really was, and I was terrified cause look, like, with my brother, he’s all about the theatrics. I was scared my brother was gonna cause a scene at my wedding,” she shared. “This is my wedding day. Maybe it was better that they didn’t come because I didn’t want anyone ruining my wedding, and I didn’t put it past him cause he ruined his own son’s christening.”
