Taylor Swift Vienna Concerts Canceled After Thwarted Terrorist Attack
Taylor Swift‘s Eras Tour concerts scheduled for tomorrow (Aug. 8), Friday and Saturday at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium have been canceled after government officials thwarted a planned terrorist attack at the events. Per Austrian promoter Barracuda Music, “all tickets will be automatically refunded within the next 10 business days.”
According to NBC News, two men were arrested in Austria today for plotting an attack at one of the Swift concerts and other major events in Austria. Both were radicalized online, and one, a 19-year-old who pledged allegiance to the ISIS terrorist organization was allegedly found with suspicious chemical substances upon his arrest.

Police initially said the shows would go on amid increased security measures since “the concrete danger has been minimized,” but that decision has since been reversed.
The news comes just days after three children were murdered during a Swift-themed dance class in Southport, England. The 17-year-old assailant faces three counts of murder and 10 of attempted murder. Riots ensued after the incident, with far-right protestors apparently aiming to link it without evidence to immigration.
The next Eras Tour shows after Vienna are scheduled for Aug. 15-17 at London’s Wembley Stadium.
