Taylor Swift Eras Tour: What to expect, setlist, what to wear and everything you need to know | Explainer

As soon as the clock struck midnight on the new year, Swifties all around Australia could focus on just one thing: we’re seeing Taylor Swift this year.

The star is finally bringing her record-smashing Eras Tour down to us, with seven dates across two cities in February.

Though you might have already seen the show in cinemas – or in viral TikTok videos – nothing can compare to seeing it in person.

Here’s everything you need to know before heading to the Eras Tour.

Taylor Swift Eras Tour setlist

Though the setlist has changed a little over the months since the show debuted in March 2022, it remained mostly the same for all shows. We can only assume she will continue the same setlist for her Aussie and Asian shows.

The setlist has 44 songs over ten different acts, each one representing one of the singer’s eras.

This includes six songs from Lover, three from Fearless, five from Evermore, four from Reputation, one from Speak Now, four from Red, seven from Folklore, five from 1989, two surprise songs, and seven from Midnights.

There are a few songs she sings live that didn’t appear on the recorded version in cinemas and on streaming: The Archer, Wildest Dreams, ‘Tis The Damn Season and Cardigan.

Taylor Swift Eras Tour merch

Of course, one of the best things about concerts is the merch.

Though we haven’t gotten a look at any of the merchandise which will be on sale for the 2024 dates of the Eras Tour, it’s safe to assume it will be the same offering as the US leg and South American leg of the tour.

Some of it is also available to view online, and some are in-person items only.

There are merch stands both inside and outside the venue. So if you didn’t get tickets but still want to go and get merch, you can.

Taylor Swift Eras Tour – What to wear

The beauty of a Taylor Swift show is that you can wear whatever you want, and you will be celebrated.

Some fans go all-in and spend six-months hand-bejewelling bodysuits to create replicas of Taylor’s costumes. Some wear jeans and a t-shirt.

Think about what you’ll be most comfortable in. Though sparkly cowboy boots will look incredible in your photos, maybe bring a small pair of flats you can change into for dancing and jumping around.

Taylor Swift Eras tour – What to bring

The stadiums will only allow small bags that can fit under your seat – 30cm x 40cm is the maximum size.

Definitely bring a portable charger! You don’t want your phone to run out of battery halfway through the Cruel Summer bridge.

If you’re driving, leave some bottle water and Gatorade in your car for after the show, as you’ll need it after nearly four hours of dancing and singing.

Though it might be tempting to make a fun sign to bring, just make sure that it’s not big enough to obstruct the view of anyone behind you. That’s a quick way to make enemies.

For cameras, small digital cameras and phones are fine. If you have a professional camera with a detachable lens, you’ll have to leave it at home. Selfie sticks are also prohibited.

Taylor Swift Eras tour friendship bracelet ideas

As you might have already seen on social media, friendship bracelets have become a big part of the Eras tour.

Swifties make bracelets with letter beads, spelling out their favourite song titles or lyrics, which they take to the show and trade with people.

It’s not mandatory but it is a lot of fun!

There aren’t any rules to making friendship bracelets for the Eras tour. Just think of lyrics or songs you love, and go crazy. If you’re going with friends, maybe make them personalised ones with their favourite lyrics.

How much are Taylor Swift tickets Australia 2024?

The original setlist featured Invisible String as the opening song of the Folklore set. However, after her breakup with Joe Alwyn, she replaced it with The 1.

For the shows that had Phoebe Bridgers as the opening act, Taylor brought her out to perform Nothing New during the Red set.

Long Live was added after Enchanted as part of the Speak Now act after the release of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), but was taken off again for the international dates.

At the shows opened by Haim, they came out to join Taylor for No Body, No Crime instead of ‘Tis the Damn Season.
