Taylor Swift Eras Tour Sydney: References to Aussie culture in second Sydney show

Taylor Swift has made several nods to Aussie culture in her second Sydney Eras Tour show.

During the interlude of We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, fans can expect her dancer Kam to make a hilarious cultural reference.

In past Melbourne shows, instead of saying “like ever” like in the original lyrics, the dancer said “like naur” in an exaggerated Australian accent that has become an internet reference in regards to Aussies.

Last night the dancer instead yelled, “Tell him he’s dreaming,” in a full-fledged Aussie accent at the interlude, with the crowd erupting in cheers at the classic Australian reference.

The iconic line is from Australian film The Castle and has since become an integral part of Aussie culture, used in everyday language as a creative way to say “no”. Originally delivered by Michael Caton, it fits in perfectly with the message of Swift’s song.

The songstress also had a go at our iconic accent, surprising fans when she said that it was “cute”.

Taking the time to speak to her fans, she said that she and her band “feel at home” in Australia.

“The more time we spend around you, the more favourite things we find about you,” she told the crowd. “But obviously you know we love your accents, but I have a very specific word that is my favourite word that you say in an Australian accent and that word is the word ‘no'”.

She even gave off a chef’s kiss at her appreciation of the accent before saying it was the “most glorious sound, the more you chew on that ‘naur’…” she continued as fans cheered on her attempt.

“I really think you say it better than I say it,” she said, before letting her fans know that the next song incorporates her favourite word a lot.

“The choice is yours,” she told them. “You can sing it American like me if you want or you can just be yourselves and you can say Should’ve Said ‘Naur’,” she said as fans erupted at her acknowledgement.
