Swift signed off “with love and hope” and added: “Taylor Swift. Childless Cat Lady.”
The statement comes after Swift made headlines for hugging Brittany Mahomes, the wife of NFL star Patrick Mahomes, at the US Open. They are believed to have a firm friendship.
It’s been reported and alleged Brittany ”liked” one of Trump’s recent posts, with many perceiving the move as an endorsement of the controversial politician.
“I mean honestly, To be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood,” Brittany reportedly responded on her Instagram stories.
“There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well.”
Trump allegedly responded in part: “I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me, and the fact that MAGA is the greatest and most powerful Political Movement in the History of our now Failing Country.”
Many of Swift’s longtime supporters and the public soon took issue with the singer for not revealing who she was backing and supporting in the election, with one writing on X that her perceived silence was “spineless”.
“Hey @taylorswift13 you dropped this,” one person wrote on X alongside an x-ray illustration of a spine.
In her Miss Americana documentary, Swift first revealed her political ideals, saying: “I want to do this. I need to be on the right side of history.”
At the time, she endorsed Tennessee Democratic candidate Phil Bredesen.
