Superman & Lois actress Bitsie Tulloch shares an emotional statement on finishing her DC run as Lois Lane on The CW drama. It’s the end of an era for The CW as Superman & Lois season 4, which is Arrowverse-adjacent, will properly wrap up the franchise that began in 2012 with Arrow. While a premiere date hasn’t been set yet, Superman & Lois’ final season will be arriving sometime in the fall, as the show will back for a ten-episode run.

As of last week, the Superman & Lois series finale finished production in Vancouver, Canada. Tulloch, who has played Lois since 2018’s Elseworlds crossover in the Arrowverse, shared an extended post about finishing her journey playing the iconic DC character, sharing the following:

The CW co-lead thanked her showrunners, the Superman & Lois cast, and the entire production team for the show’s run. Tulloch praised Lois for being “an icon for as long as Superman has because of her fierceness, her work ethic, her determination, her playfulness, her commitment to finding the truth no matter the cost.”

Why Is Superman & Lois Ending With Season 4?

There are a number of reasons why Superman & Lois season 4 will be the end of the DC TV adventure. One of the big components to this more sudden end is the new regime behind The CW, which is now mainly run by Nexstar after they acquired 75% of the network from Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery, and is seemingly focusing less on genre shows like superhero series.

However, there is a big DC element playing a part in Superman & Lois’ pending end, as The CW president of entertainment, Brad Schwartz, revealed that Warner Bros. Discovery was also partially responsible for the cancelation. According to Schwartz, Superman & Lois season 4 had to be the final season because Warner Bros. Discovery didn’t want “a competing Superman product in the marketplace” as DC Studios is setting up James Gunn’s DC Universe. As of this story’s publication, Gunn and DC Studios have still not commented on the new Superman movie’s relation to Superman & Lois getting axed.

As Superman & Lois season 4 filming is finally done, The CW will likely be getting ready to roll out the marketing over the next few months. Even though most episodes are still in post-production, it wouldn’t be shocking if the first Superman & Lois season 4 trailer debuts by May or June. But for now, the world will have to wait patiently for the arrival of Superman & Lois season 4.

Superman and Lois

Superman & Lois, the seventh Arrowverse spinoff series, will take the titular characters from Metropolis to Smallville. The CW series is set in the aftermath of the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover, which saw the multiverse collapse and the merging of worlds into what is now Earth Prime. Superman & Lois sees Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) and Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin) dealing with all the pressures of their jobs, along with being parents to two teenage sons. Lois and Clark are no strangers to the Arrowverse, with Hoechlin’s Superman having been introduced all the way back in Supergirl season 2. Meanwhile, Tulloch’s Lois made her debut in the 2018 “Elseworlds” crossover. The duo is joined by a growing cast of characters that includes a new iteration of Lana Lang.
