Lindsay Hubbard explained why she suggested Kyle Cooke act as a flower boy in her would-have-been-wedding to Carl Radke after last week’s episode of Summer House.

As Amanda Batula, 32, suspected the demotion from groomsman may have been a “f*ck you” to Kyle, 41, and Carl, 39, admitted to feeling embarrassed by the discussion, Lindsay, 37, shared her reasoning for Kyle’s potential role as their castmates weighed in on what many thought was a diss.

“I was floored. Floored. With two other guys. He wasn’t even one of one. He was one of three,” Paige DeSorbo, 31, exclaimed on the April 4 episode of the Summer House: After Show. “Carl officiated their wedding. You couldn’t make him a groomsmen?”

As Paige noted that Carl “couldn’t talk all summer,” Ciara Miller, 28, recalled that both Amanda and Carl failed to speak up.

“Amanda was sitting there with a straight face. Carl didn’t stand up for his friend like, ‘I’m not making this man a flower boy,” she shared.

Meanwhile, West Wilson wondered, “What the f*ck is a flower boy?” He then noted, “They’re supposed to be kids.”

“That’s a kick in the nuts,” replied Jesse Solomon.

According to Jesse, he believes Lindsay may have suggested Kyle be a flower boy to take “a shot” at him.

“It could’ve been Lindsay being like ‘Let’s make Kyle the flower boy,’ knowing it was like a shot at him, and Carl was like, ‘Oh that’s a nice honor. Let’s do it,’” he posed. “I would say officiant and best man are like neck and neck for the highest honor, and then groomsmen are behind that, and then flower boys and ushers are like honorable mentions. It means you’re important, but not important enough to be a groomsman.”

“He’s a 42-year-old man with a mullet. Why would he be a flower boy?” Gabby Prescod, 32, mentioned. “It’s a little weird.”

But after Amanda agreed with Jesse, saying, “Part of me feels like it was a ‘f*ck you’ from Lindsay because you know, sometimes they don’t get along,” Lindsay defended her decision.

“It was an adults-only resort. No children allowed. We can’t have flower girls or boys and so I was like, Kyle, they were still repairing their relationship over summer and so we wanted to figure out a way so I was like, ‘Why don’t we have flower boys and you can make Kyle a flower boy?’” she explained. “Obviously, we weren’t going to have Kyle officiate because that would’ve been the most long-winded wedding of all time.”

Looking back at the wedding party debacle in his own segment, Carl said that when it came to Kyle’s involvement in his potential wedding to Lindsay, he couldn’t wrap his head around Kyle not being included.

“The thought was, ‘Why don’t we find three of your friends that are also wedding party material to be flower boys?’” he revealed, proceeding to admit his embarrassment.

“I’m honestly kind of embarrassed about it because where we’ve been, and what we’ve been through as friends, and what he’s done for me, and the thought of not having him there or being a part of it, that is absolute insanity,” he continued. “I’m glad he was willing to roll with the punches on it, but it was a weird thing deciding how to do that I will say, and I’m sure a lot of people that get married struggle with it.”

While Carl said he wasn’t trying to “blame” Lindsay, he signaled to his past drama with Kyle before noting that the “biggest sign of it all” was that he and Linsdsay never made it down the aisle.

“And when I actually do get married, this man will be right there with me,” he added.

As for Kyle, he said that it wasn’t until people began mentioning that the demotion was a diss that he began to think that way.

“They’re like, ‘He was like essentially your best man with your brother, like a co-best man, and he officiated your wedding and you’re gonna like, throw some petals out at his,’” he shared. “I was like, ‘Yeah, that is a pretty big disparity.’”

Although Amanda was criticized for not speaking up for Kyle, she said she stayed silent and supportive because she didn’t want to make her husband “feel worse.”

“I know Kyle would’ve loved more than anything to be a bigger part in the wedding, but Lindsay severed a lot of his friendships and cut a lot of people out of his life, and they just were no longer as close as they used to be,” she added.

Summer House season eight airs Thursdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
