Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley reveals Graves’ disease diagnosis
Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley has shared a heartbreaking health update.
The 32-year-old has been open in the past about her endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome diagnoses, which she battled through her teens and 20s.
Now in a new interview with Women’s Health, the star revealed she has Graves’ disease.

Speaking to the publication, Ridley shared she was diagnosed in September 2023 after beginning to feel unwell on the set of her latest thriller film Magpie.
Ridley had lost weight, felt fatigued and developed hand tremors and a racing heart rate.
“I thought, ‘Well, I’ve just played a really stressful role; presumably that’s why I feel poorly’,” the star explained, adding she had also felt irritable.

The star later found out her symptoms were actually from her suffering with an immune system disorder affecting the thyroid gland called Graves’ disease.
“It was funny, I was like, ‘Oh, I just thought I was annoyed at the world,’ but turns out everything is functioning so quickly, you can’t chill out,” she said.
Ridley admitted she “didn’t realise how bad” she had felt until reflecting on and changing her lifestyle post-diagnosis.

The actress has since cut down on gluten and focused more on her well-being with a range of holistic practices.
“We all read the stats about women being undiagnosed or underdiagnosed and sort of coming to terms with saying, ‘I really, actually don’t feel good’ and not going, ‘I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine.’ It’s just normalised to not feel good,” she said.
