STALKER 2 Heart Of Chornobyl 1.0.1 Patch Is Now Live, Fixing Over 650 Known Issues

The first major patch for STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is live for players on PC and Xbox and includes over 650 fixes. STALKER 2 was released on November 20th after several delays, but the launch included a host of bugs that developer GSC Game World promised to address.

According to GSC Game World, patch 1.0.1 addresses several issues impacting all parts of the game. STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl was set to release shortly after the 2007 game STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl, but the sequel went through a long road to release. This led to many bugs at launch as GSC Game World developed their biggest game ever. Here’s what the developers had to say to the players in their patch note:

“Thanks for your passion and support since the release, it is really important to us. The patch 1.0.1 is live both on PC and Xbox. This is our first fix patch that addressed over 650 different bugs and issues.”

STALKER 2 Patch Fixes Memory Leakes, Crashes, Quest Blockers, & More

The First Fix Patch Is Extensive And Addressing Players’ Initial Concerns

Patch 1.0.1 has several key fixes in its lengthy list of fixes. The developers are adjusting the AI for NPCs related to out-of-memory crashes in locations crowded with NPCs and how they act in combat. Optimization fixes address rendering at certain camera angles along with adjusting NPC models that weren’t working properly in the game. The fix most players are looking at is the balance adjustments that will decrease the repair cost for weapons and armor and increase the monetary reward for most missions. One of STALKER 2’s most important features is the durability of weapons, and with fixes to the in-game economy, players will have more chances to fix their gear.

One major fix remains missing, as GSC Game World continues to find solutions to issues with STALKER 2’s A-Life 2.0 system. This is a key feature of the game that controls STALKER 2’s NPCs spawning in combat and interacting with the world. Players have reported factions not interacting with each other the way they should and enemy NPCs spawning behind the player after combat. GSC Game World promised the A-Life system would be addressed in future patches, but that players should continue to share their feedback on the system.

Our Take: STALKER 2 Devs Seem To Be On The Ball With Bug Fixes

Players Are Being Patient With The Ukrainian Developers As They Still Enjoy The Game

GSC Game World’s commitment to fixing the game after its release has garnered respect among players. They also understand that the Ukrainian developers have developed the game under unprecedented conditions. This led to STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl selling over one million copies in under 48 hours of its release, and it’s still at the top of Steam’s top seller charts at the time of this writing.

If patch 1.0.1 improves the game significantly, then a combination of positive word of mouth and more enhancements could keep STALKER 2 on the bestseller list for weeks.
