Yesterday, SEGA and Sonic Team announced a new 2.5D Classic Sonic game that is called Sonic Superstars. The game will feature Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy as they defeat Dr. Eggman and Fang. Details are slowly coming in about the game, and there’s been some new information that has caught the attention of a lot of Sonic fans.
You see, Sonic series producer Takashi Iizuka recently spoke to IGN about Sonic Superstars. In the interview, Iizuka confirms that there will not be any returning areas from previous Sonic games. In fact, Iizuka says that “what we wanted to do with Sonic Superstars is really create something new and go in there and create these brand new islands that you get to explore as Sonic. We wanted to take Sonic to [the] brand new North Star Islands and have Sonic run around in this new environment. So we wanted to make brand new places for Sonic to go in this new title”.
