Sonic Frontiers developers initially said “if we fail here, there will be no chance”

SEGA and the Sonic Team have talked about the initial development of the fairly well-received Sonic Frontiers. The team consisted of 120 developers which included designers, programmers, sound, etc. Talking further they said that the game would be a make or break situation for Sonic games and that the whole team was filled with a sense of crisis with the thought of “If we fail here, there will be no chance!” making them all perform to expectation. Thankfully everything worked out all right in the end.

including designers, programmers, sound, etc. This project has taken about five years in total. For the first year, we worked with a small group of people to finalize the specifications, and during that time I was working on another project, and by the time I came back, the prototype we had created was still quite satisfactory both in terms of graphics and playability. It wasn’t. In the project, we are using an in-house game engine called “Hedgehog Engine” that specializes in Sonic’s gameplay, but development of this is also progressing at the same time, and we are working on the creation of “Open Zone”. We continued to add necessary features one after another. The team was filled with a sense of crisis: “We have to create something new!” “If we fail here, there will be no chance!”
