SOMETHING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN releases two one-shot specials for its fifth anniversary
Some breaking news from Tiny Onion and friends about Something is Killing The Children! In honor of the Slaugtherverse’s 5th anniversary, the Eisner-award-winning team of James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera will continue to expand its story with two very special one-shots out for release this December.
First, is the epic finale of Maxine Slaughter’s transformation from White Mask to Black Mash in BOOK OF CUTTER. The comic will see Maxine on her final step along her journey as she travels across the Atlantic and into Europe to train with the enigmatic and deadly House of Cutter.
BOOK OF CUTTER #1 will feature a main cover by Dan Mora (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) along with variants by series co-creator Werther Dell’Edera, Khary Randolph (Sirens of the City), and more to be announced. It will be in stores on Christmas day December 25, 2024, though is also available for pre-order at your local comic shop, with digital copies available on content providers such as iBooks, Google Play, and Kindle.
The second book will be THE ART OF SOMETHING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN COMPANION #1 – an oversized issue featuring a curated collection of the most iconic Something is Killing the Children covers created in the past 5 years. The book is the perfect way to relive the harrowing journey of Erica Slaughter and will be available in comic shops December 4, 2024 – with digital copies available through the same avenues as BOOK OF CUTTER.
Covers for both books have yet to be revealed though here’s one from volume 1 as a reminder of what’s in store.
“It’s been thrilling to chart Maxine’s journey from Archer’s Peak to her new life as the only sanctioned Black Mask in the House of Slaughter. These annual specials have been an incredible way to explore and expand the world and lore of the Slaughterverse — and now, with Book of Cutter, we’re pulling the curtain back on the Order of St. George itself,” said co-creator and series writer James Tynion IV. “The Great House has its eyes on the House of Slaughter, and Maxine is about to get a glimpse of the dangers waiting for the American Houses…”
“After three books, Maxine Slaughter has become one of my favorite characters!” followed co-creator and series artist Werther Dell’Edera. “I can’t wait to see what will happen when Maxine and Erica’s paths eventually collide!”
