Snoop Dogg, Lizzo & More All Turned Down Jennifer Lopez’s New Film

Jennifer Lopez has a lot of celebrity cameos in her new movie This Is Me…Now: A Love Story. But a new documentary shows she tried for more, including Snoop Dogg and Lizzo.

The Greatest Love Story Never Told is a just-released companion documentary that chronicles the making of This Is Me…Now: A Love Story.

In one of the most attention-getting scenes, J. Lo and her team, including longtime producing partner Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and manager Benny Medina, discuss the celebrities they’ve asked to appear in their film. The list of no’s due to unavailability mentioned in the scene includes Snoop and Lizzo, along with Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and many others.

Check it out in slide 2 of the Hollywood Unlocked post below.

After the film’s release, Lizzo responded via TikTok, saying she had been unaware of the project.

“Nobody asked me,” she said in response to a clip of the documentary showing a producer saying the singer was unavailable. “J. Lo, I love you.”

The celebrities who did end up in This Is Me…Now: A Love Story include, among others, Post Malone, Keke Palmer, Fat Joe, Jennifer Lewis, Jane Fonda, and Lopez’s husband Ben Affleck.

The third part of Lopez’s new trilogy of projects, in addition to the movie and the documentary, is an album also entitled This Is Me…Now.

HipHopDX‘s Will Schube called the project “formulaic.”

“As with any album that involves hordes of songwriters, A&Rs and producers, there are plenty of good ideas on here,” he wrote. “Most of them, though, sound like they could be sung by anyone.

“For all of the time, money, and energy J.Lo and her team put into the theatrical accompaniment to This is Me… Now, it would have behooved all involved to spend a little more time on the music that the film was meant to accompany.

This is Me… Now hears Jennifer Lopez constantly tell fans how great her love life is. She rarely bothers to explain why.”
