Some deals with the devil…come with strings attached!

Slight Return is well on its way to being funded, but it still has a journey ahead—and here at The Beat, we couldn’t resist writing about it. The project follows newly-canceled nepo baby Theo Van Every, who inherits her rock-star grandfather’s condemned bayou mansion. As she sets up shop to record a comeback album, she’s confronted by an eerie stranger demanding the return of a missing family heirloom: an iconic guitar rumored to have been bargained away to the Devil himself.

The story is intriguing, to say the least, but the real standout is the artwork. Slight Return boasts a stunning visual style, blending vibrant watercolors with rich colored-pencil textures to create a uniquely breathtaking comic. It’s a feast for the eyes, and we’d be remiss not to feature it in our roundup.
