The cast of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants has reunited two decades later. Based on the novel of the same name, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is a 2005 coming-of-age comedy about a group of four best friends who stay connected with each other through a magical pair of jeans that miraculously fits each of their bodies perfectly. The movie is directed by Ken Kwapis and stars Amber Tamblyn, America Ferrera, Blake Lively, and Alexis Bledel as the four main friends. The cast then returned in 2008 for a sequel.
Nearly 20 years after the first film’s release, the cast of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants has again come together. Ferrera posted a short video on Instagram of Lively, Tamblyn, and Bledel joining her to celebrate her role in Barbie.
The sweet clip shows the main quartet taking a series of pictures together. In the background, Ferrera included audio from the film. To caption the post, she wrote, “The Sisterhood came through all in pink to celebrate my performance in Barbie last night. I love these women with all my heart.”
Where Is The Cast Of The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants Now?
As alluded to in Ferrera’s post, the actor recently earned much acclaim for her performance as Gloria in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. In addition to the smash hit film, Ferrera’s post-Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants career has included playing Amy Sosa on the hit NBC series Superstore and voicing Astrid in the How to Train Your Dragon movies. Though she was only 21 when she starred in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Ferrera’s career has really taken off since then.
Bledel and Lively have also maintained fairly active careers in the years since the YA movies. Lively went on to play one of the lead roles in Gossip Girl from 2007 to 2012, and has acted in a number of movies. Bledel, who got her start playing Rory Gilmore on the series Gilmore Girls, continued to appear on the show after The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and also played a role in the first four seasons of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale.
Tamblyn has had one of the slower careers of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants leads, though she still maintains an active career in the film industry, most recently appearing in the movie You Hurt My Feelings. It is Lively and Ferrera whose careers flourished the most after The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, but nonetheless, all four actors have seen success to some degree. For those nostalgic for the movie and its sequel, it is great to see the Sisterhood back again and still supporting each other decades later.
