Sienna Miller Slammed Backlash Over Having A Baby In Her 40s

As well as being an actor and fashion icon, Sienna Miller is a proud mom of two daughters born over a decade apart.

Sienna welcomed her first child, Marlowe, with her ex, Tom Sturridge, back in 2012. And in 2023, she became a mom for the second time, giving birth to a baby girl with her current partner, Oli Green.

In 2022, the American Sniper actor opened up about the decision to freeze her eggs at 40 in the hopes of growing her family. “Having been really focused on the need to have another baby, I’m just like, if it happens, it happens,” she told Elle UK at the time.

Fortunately, her plans worked out, and Sienna and Oli’s baby daughter — whose name we don’t know — was born in late 2023 when Sienna was 41 years old. Now, as she embarks on the early stages of motherhood for the second time, the actor has addressed the “unbelievably misogynistic” attitudes towards women who have children in their 40s. “I now have a 12-year-old and a 14-month-old. I think there’s a whole load of noise and people have a lot to say and it’s incredibly gendered and unbelievably misogynistic and anti-feminist,” she told Elle UK in a new interview. “It’s insane.”

Sienna called out the double standard between men and women, noting that there isn’t nearly as much judgment towards men who become dads again later in life. “No one has anything to say about — and I love these people, and they’re friends, which I like to name-drop — Al Pacino and Robert De Niro having kids in their 80s,” she rightly pointed out about the two Hollywood icons. “Forget about your age! It’s irrelevant. It’s absolutely irrelevant.”

As you may know, age has been a topic of discussion that Sienna has had to tackle in other areas of her life. For context, her partner, Oli, is 14 years younger than her, and since they went public with their relationship in 2022, she’s repeatedly had to address their age gap. Last summer, she told Harper’s Bazaar UK that she finds it quite refreshing to be with someone younger. “There is a difference in the way that generation of men respect women,” she said, describing Oli as “very wise and well-adjusted.” “They have grown up with a slightly more level playing field. I see it in his female friends as well as in the men.”

One thing’s for sure: Sienna is living her best life. She is totally right about the double standards, too… Let women do what they want with their bodies, please! You can read her full interview with Elle UK here.
