Sheriff’s Office: Macon woman in ‘critical condition’ after crash

They say a sedan was attempting to turn from Pio Nono onto Rocky Creek Road when an SUV hit the car.

MACON, Ga. — A  woman is in “critical condition” after a car crash on Pio Nono Avenue and Rocky Creek Road, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

They say it happened on Sunday at around 3:30 p.m.

A 51-year-old female from Macon was traveling south on Pio Nono in a Nissan Sentra when they made a left turn at a red light, turning towards Rocky Creek Road, the sheriff’s office said.

As they were turning, they say a Honda CRV  heading north on Pio Nono then struck the Sentra. The Honda was being driven by a 31-year-old man of Macon.

Both drivers were taken to Atrium Health Navicent, the sheriff’s office said.

According to the press release, the driver of the Sentra is in “critical condition” and the male was taken to the hospital “for complaints of injuries.”

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says this information is preliminary and could change as the investigation moves forward.
