Selena Gomez’s BFF Francia Raísa confirms they didn’t speak for four years

Francia Raísa has spoken about her rumoured ‘feud’ with pop singer Selena Gomez, saying that there was never actually any bad blood between the pair.

“Nothing happened, and if you ask either of us, we don’t know what happened,” the actress told USA Today. “But we needed that time apart.”

“Then when you come back together, you’re better people,” Raísa added. “She and I are still getting to know each other again.”

Raísa went on to talk about how “crazy” it is that the public are so invested in the pair’s friendship. They both met as teenagers in 2007, and quickly became BFFs.

In 2017, when Gomez needed a life-saving kidney transplant, Raísa donated one of hers to the singer.

After that, though the pair went through a period of estrangement, Raísa told USA Today ”we never really had beef with each other.”

In the last few years, there have been rumours of a huge “feud” between the two, with tabloid headlines claiming that Raísa was irritated by Gomez’s partying.

But in July this year, the Only Murders In The Building actress posted a message to Instagram wishing Raísa a happy birthday, which was what led to them rekindling their friendship.

“Happiest of birthdays to this special human beings. No matter where life takes us, I love you,” Gomez wrote.

“We hadn’t spoken much in six years. Especially [in] the last year, we didn’t speak at all,” the How I Met Your Father actress revealed. “I don’t know why the universe decided this timing … then she reached out and said, ‘Let’s talk.'”

“Even though we’ve had our zigzags in life, we could still come together and be friends and still have our old times,” Raisa explained. “We got spray tans together. We went to some of our old favourite restaurants together. It’s been nice.”

In 2015, when Gomez was publicly open about her ongoing health battle after being diagnosed with Lupus, Raísa became an important part of the singer’s support system.

Two years later, when Gomez needed a kidney, Raísa donated hers.

“There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raísa,” Gomez said at the time.

“She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis.”
