Selena Gomez just can’t catch a break, can she?
The Only Murders In The Building star has tried to take the high road in her high profile celeb feuds. But now, according to a new report, a former friend is ready to stab her in the back! And proudly, too!
According to a shocking DailyMail.com report, Selly’s new nemesis is her previous pal Caroline Franklin. The two were friends for nearly a decade, they went on holiday together, posted tons of pics. Selena is still close to her sister, Connar Franklin Carpenter. But Caro? Not since summer of 2023.
So what happened?!?
Fans believe a rift opened between them as the November 2024 election approached. Yeah, that’s right. Caroline is a Donald Trump fan. Sigh.
We’ve all had this happen in our lives at some point now, right? Someone that seemed like they had reason and empathy, and all of a sudden… they were cheering for a guy calling for war on our neighbors, a fascist end to democracy, the removal of women’s rights, enormous taxes on the poor, the erasure of the LGBT community, and of course… mass deportations of immigrants.
It was this last point that had Selena in tears just a month ago. She posted a video to her Instagram sobbing over the heartless treatment of innocent children just because of where they were born. You know, because she has a kind heart, and it’s awful. Normal people stuff.
But Caro isn’t just “fell down a rabbit hole and radicalized by the internet” MAGA. No, she’s hardcore. She’s posted photos to her IG in which she was shaking Trump’s hand. See, her father is a pastor who worked with Trump, and her brother was the executive director of Evangelicals for Trump. Just more devout Christians supporting a sexual abuser who cheated on all three of his wives, ran a scam charity, and has openly mocked the handicapped. Makes perfect sense.

At some point Selena cut Caroline out of her life. At the time of the election, fans noticed the Wolves singer had unfollowed her. Sadly, you just have to let people go sometimes. You can have a laugh with someone, but when they show you who they really are… What can you do?
Well, it seems Caro took it personally. The 37-year-old has been going full culture war against the evil celebrities… despite having known them personally. She’s been posted about it recently, though not by name. On Wednesday, February 19, Caro posted a pic on her IG Stories of an Israeli woman and her child who were killed by Hamas on October 7 — and called out celebs who… wanted a ceasefire?? Caro has made it clear she supports Israel’s actions in Gaza, blasting “idiot with a pretty face” Gigi Hadid directly for wanting the violence to end. Classy. And something a source said was the last straw for several of Caro’s friends.
But this time she was way more indiscriminate with her targets 
“And to all the phony celebrities who talk about human rights and feminism, but will never mention this mother and her babies… you guys are so full of s**t. Performative activism at its finest. Such losers you guys are. And I know you will see this.”
Um, OK. We’re not sure what that has to do with being upset about other women and children being hurt… But it does seem to have been about her famous former friend as she made clear in her extremely threatening followup message:
“When I decide how and when to expose you… I will address it with the most detail and sincerity to the 10 year friendship I experienced and survived. Under oath.”
Yeah, sounds like that’s about Selena. A source told the outlet the singer 100% believes the post was about her. So what’s she going to expose? The insider brushed off any actual concern, saying:
“Selena is not worried about Caroline. No one is.”
Damn. Speaking of “performative”, the source also said the latest social media blitz “feels like attention seeking.”
Ouch! The friend noted that Selena feels more confident standing up to — or in this case walking away from — friends like this thanks to the support she gets from fiancé Benny Blanco:
“She has a lot of love in her life with Benny and neither of them support the actions of the current administration.”
Well, we’re glad she feels supported. Because if this is the kind of person she was hanging around with in recent years, no wonder she had such a hard time before!
