It was previously rumored that Scarlett Johansson was up for the lead role in director Gareth Edwards’ upcoming reboot of the Jurassic World franchise. It’s now been confirmed by THR that Johansson is in talks to join the film. This would be another big blockbuster movie franchise for the actress.
The script for the film is being written by original Jurassic Park scribe David Koepp, and Steven Spielberg is producing. This is obviously one of those franchises that Universal Pictures is never going to give up on. I just hope that the creative team does something great with it.
While I’ve enjoyed most of the films in the franchise, none of them has been as good as Spielberg’s original 1993 movie. None of them have been able to reach that quality in storytelling excellence. It would be great to see a Jurassic World film reach that high bar again, but with Koepp behind the script, maybe there’s a chance with this new movie.
