Robin Windsor death: Strictly Come Dancing star Robin Windsor dead aged 44

Robin Windsor, a former professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing, has died. He was 44.

Dance company Burn the Floor, who Windsor was a founder of, first announced the news in a statement posted to social media. His cause of death has not been confirmed.

“The Burn the Floor family has lost one of its founding members, Robin “Bobby” Windsor – who has tragically passed away,” the Facebook post revealed.

“A BTF journeyman he danced with us for twenty years – including Broadway, The West End and all our crazy adventures around the world,” the statement continued.

“His talent, attitude, energy and personality helped create the Burn the Floor stage reputation.”

“He leaves a void in our hearts that will never be filled, yet our wonderful memories will stay forever,” the statement concluded with a broken heart emoji.

Windsor was best known as a professional dancer on the British TV series, Strictly Come Dancing, which he participated in from 2010 to 2013.

The dancer officially retired from the series in 2014 due to concerns for his health after the star revealed he had a back operation.

Tributes have begun flowing from Windsor’s Strictly Come Dancing co-stars.

The show’s presenter Claudia Winkleman shared a heartfelt message to her Instagram story, remembering the late dancer as a “brilliant dancer and a very lovely, kind man.”

Shirley Ballas, a judge on the BBC series, posted a heartbreaking tribute to X, formerly known as Twitterafter learning the “devastating news.”

Ballas remembered Windsor as a “beautiful human being,” as well as “kind, gracious, gentle and extremely hard working.”

“A wonderful dancer, true gentleman, good soul & so very young. You will be missed by so many.”

Windsor’s partner on season 10 of the series in 2010, Lisa Riley, got emotional after news of the the star’s death.

“Love you so so so much 💔💔💔 a captured moment, says so much ……My Angel 💔💔💔 RiRo 💔💔💔 YOU ARE LOVED!!!!” she wrote to Instagram alongside a photo of the pair hugging.

Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid, who was on season 11 of Strictly Come Dancing in 2013, shared a tribute for the star on air.

“He was a remarkable dancer, incredibly strong, so creative, he was just so enthusiastic about dancing,” she said.

“I just adored him, he was the most incredible personality, there was something very special about him.”

“Gorgeous man inside and out,” Reid also wrote in a tribute later posted to her Instagram story. “Sending love to everyone who loves you.”

Windsor’s friend and former flatmate during his time on the BBC series, Tim Benzie, also took to social media to share a message for the star.

“He was so, so lovely. Robin was my flatmate when he was on Strictly and was one of the loveliest people you could ever meet,” Benzie said.

“What you saw was what you got with Robin. I never heard him say an unkind word about anybody.”

Windsor had been dancing since he was three years old after his parents enrolled him in a local dance school in Ipswich.

He also appeared on Australia’s Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance.
