Road House 2’s Post Malone Return Can Fulfill The 1 Big Scene Missing From Amazon’s 2024 Remake

Summary

  • Road House 2 should bring Post Malone back for a fight scene with Dalton to correct the first film’s mistake.
  • The remake leaves out a Wade Garrett counterpart, creating an opportunity for Post Malone’s return in a sequel.
  • Post Malone’s performance in Road House shows promise, demanding a more significant role with Gyllenhaal in a potential sequel.

Amazon Prime Video’s Road House is a remake of the 1989 action film of the same name, and while the newer movie contains several impressive sequences, one scene is notably missing — but the mistake can be fixed by having Post Malone return in a possible sequel. The 2024 action film, directed by Doug Liman and written by Anthony Bagarozzi and Chuck Mondry, takes the Patrick Swayze-led original story and modernizes it. Consequently, the Road House remake leaves out several things from the 1989 original movie, including an entire character (even though the remake already had the perfect person to play him).

Whereas the first film takes place in Jasper, Missouri, Road House (2024) brings the story to the Florida Keys. Jake Gyllenhaal’s character is inspired by Swayze’s, but they have different backstories (with Swayze’s Dalton previously being a bouncer and Gyllenhaal’s Dalton as an ex-UFC fighter). Despite these differences, the remake frequently pays homage to the original, and a potential Road House sequel with the return of Gyllenhaal could address the things that the first film leaves out.

Road House 2 Needs To Bring Back Post Malone’s Carter For A Fight Scene With Dalton

The First Film Cheated Viewers Of A Jake Gyllenhaal & Post Malone Fight Scene

Post Malone’s role as Carter at the beginning of Road House and the prospect of seeing him fight Jake Gyllenhaal’s Dalton is exciting, until Carter backs out of the fight, due to Dalton’s reputation. Of course, Carter chickening out demonstrates how feared Dalton is and how formidable an opponent he is. But, it still feels as if something is missing in the film because it doesn’t feature a fight scene between Post Malone’s character and Dalton. However, if the production studio greenlights a sequel (which is very possible because of the remake’s reception and popularity), it can rectify this mistake.

A
Road House
sequel could kill two birds with one stone by bringing Post Malone back to fight Dalton and have him fill in [Sam] Elliot’s role from the first film.

Post Malone should show off his acting chops more, seeing as he does an impressive job in Road House (despite his limited screen time). Therefore, a Road House sequel must bring him back and give him a more significant role. But the hypothetical second movie would have to include an actual fight scene between Post Malone’s character and Gyllenhaal’s Dalton from Road House to satisfy the masses.

Post Malone Could Be Road House 2’s New Replacement For Sam Elliott’s Wade Garrett

Road House Didn’t Feature A Counterpart To Sam Elliot’s Character From The 1989 Film

Unfortunately, the remake doesn’t include a counterpart to Sam Elliot’s character in Road House — Wade Garrett. In the first film, Garrett is Dalton’s mentor and friend who fights alongside Dalton in Jasper. It’s unclear why the newer movie’s producers didn’t create a character that parallels Garrett. But their mistake ultimately leaves the door open for someone to be Elliot’s replacement in a sequel, and that someone should be Post Malone. A Road House sequel could kill two birds with one stone by bringing Post Malone back to fight Dalton and have him fill in Elliot’s role from the first film.
