Photos of the Potomac, Maryland, site in which Karen Huger crashed her Maserati have just been released.

After the Real Housewives of Potomac star, 60, was arrested and charged with DUI after running over a median and striking several street signs, images of the damage done to the property were shared as police accused Karen of refusing a breathalyzer. Plus, her castmate, Candiace Dillard-Bassett, 37, addressed the arrest and spoke of the emotional condition Karen has been in since the death of her mother, Georgia Raines Wooden, in 2017.

In images obtained by TMZ, a large tree alongside a street was seen with a chunk taken out of it, and skid marks were seen on the lawn.

While it was initially unknown whether Karen was actually arrested after the crash, the Montgomery County Police Department confirmed to Radar Online on March 21 that she was taken into custody after refusing to take a breathalyzer test.

“At approximately 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, Montgomery County Police 2nd District officers and Fire Rescue responded to the location of Oaklyn Drive and Beeman Woods Way in Potomac for a single-vehicle collision involving a 2017 Maserati,” the MCPD’s public information director, Shiera D. Goff, revealed. “The driver, Karen Huger, was taken into custody and transported to the 2nd District station in Bethesda, where she was arrested and cited for driving under the influence. She was then released.”

After being hit with one count of DUI and numerous traffic infractions for alleged negligence and reckless driving, Karen suggested that it was her emotions that led to the accident.

“Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes during this very frightening experience. I am still in shock from last nights incident, but grateful to be alive today. With the passing of my Beloved Mother, Grief comes and goes in waves, and with Mothers Day approaching it has felt more like a tsunami,” she said in a statement to TMZ. “Last night I met a girlfriend for dinner, we talked and brought up some very emotionally sensitive topics. I was crying on my way home and saw a car heading right for me. I swerved to avoid the head-on collision, hit the divider and then a tree. I’m hurt, bruised up a bit, but so grateful I am alive! I did receive citations, one of which was unrelated to the incident which is understandable, but what was most surprising is that the car that almost hit me just drove away!”

“I would like to stress, it’s important to understand your emotional state when driving and may this be a reminder to all to use their seatbelts, my Mother may be my Guardian Angel but the seatbelt saved my life,” she added.

Following the news of Karen’s wreck, Candiace appeared on Way Up With Angela Yee, where she addressed the news, admitting that Karen has been dealing with intense emotions after the death of her mom.

“I hate this. I hate that we have to talk about this. Karen, we love you. I reached out to her but she’s clearly with family, I’m sure, and trying to figure it out,” Candiace said, via Instagram.

“Her mom was her light. That was like her guiding light and I know how important her mother was to her. And her mom passing, she goes through waves where she has too much emotion that she really can’t handle, can’t manage, so I can understand how she could maybe have been driving,” she continued. “I’ve been emotional and crying in the car and had to pull over so I wouldn’t crash so it just is unfortunate that it got to the point where she had to injure herself and f*ck up her car.”

The Real Housewives of Potomac season eight airs Sundays at 8/7c on Bravo.
