Teresa Giudice is “never” going to reconcile with her brother, Joe Gorga, and his wife, Melissa Gorga, and during a podcast appearance earlier this week, she explained why.
As she looked back on her troubled years with Joe, 50, and Melissa, 45, and shaded Margaret Josephs, 57, for her antics against her husband, Luis Ruelas, 50, the 52-year-old Real Housewives of New Jersey spoke of her marriage to Joe Giudice, 50, revealed why producers like their talent to drink, and shared how she empowers women.
“Never, because my parents aren’t here anymore. And there’s too much damage,” Teresa said on the March 25 episode of Michelle Barone RED of why she’ll never again have a relationship with her brother. “I’ve been dealing with this now for over 10 years, and unfortunately, you guys only — I know sometimes people think that I’m the bad guy, but there are a lot of things that you guys haven’t seen.”
While Teresa has admittedly blamed Melissa for their family feud in the past, she noted that Joe was equally responsible.
“It was my brother’s doing too. Because someone could say, ‘That’s my only sister,’ if he was that type of guy. But I think he liked the fame too, because he wanted that,” she suspected. “I used to blame her, but it’s both of them.”
Over the course of her 14 seasons on RHONJ, Teresa has gained emotional strength — and more composure — than she had when the series began.
“I just remembered that scene … when my brother called me ‘scum.’ And normally, I would beat the sh*t out of my brother. I can do whatever I want to him. But I just was like, ‘I’m leaving. I’m not giving him any attention.’ And I walked away,” she recalled. “Then when I told my husband, he got so mad because he couldn’t believe my brother would say that to me, and that’s when he went inside and said, ‘Apologize to your sister.’”
“I kept my composure there,” she noted.
Then, after spending 11 months in prison, Teresa thought she’d be even calmer, but was ultimately activated by Margaret amid their season 12 cast trip to Nashville.
“They’re going after Luis, someone I really love — that’s when I threw everything on Margaret in Nashville because I knew that b*tch was doing that. And she was denying it. And I was just like, ‘I know you’re doing it.’ And look, the truth always comes out,” she declared, adding that Margaret “deserved that.”
While some have compared Luis to Teresa’s first husband, especially in terms of their finances, Teresa said that the men are very different.
“[People] that meet Luis and meet Joe, I’m like, ‘Can you even see me with Joe?’” she shared.
Looking back at her marriage to Joe, whom her mom didn’t initially like due to his naughty antics as a teen, Teresa insisted he was “not a bad guy.”
“I would not be with a guy that treated me like sh*t. I am a tough a** b*tch. I’m not gonna take sh*t,” she insisted. “So if he was mean to me, he did say stupid things on TV, and sometimes there was alcohol involved.”
According to Teresa, alcohol was often a factor during filming.
“They like when you drink because then you do say stupid sh*t on TV,” she explained.
Teresa then said that she fought for Joe “till the end,” when he was deported due to the crimes of bank fraud.
“I paid everything, all the legal fees, trying to keep him here in this country,” she revealed.
Also on the podcast, after saying she appreciated her time on House of Villains, because it allowed her to be “who [she] really [is],” Teresa revealed how she empowers women.
“Believe in who you are and always stand strong. And if anything is ever bad in your life, you can always turn the tables and make it positive and never give up, especially when you have kids,” she advised. “Your kids are always looking at you, so you want to be a great role model for your children — that’s what always keeps me strong and empowered.”
The Real Housewives of New Jersey is currently on pause ahead of its 15th season.
