Gina Kirschenheiter explained why she clapped back at Andy Cohen after he dissed her home as the cheapest of the Real Housewives of Orange County cast while appearing on an episode of Melissa Gorga‘s podcast last week.

As she looked back at an uncomfortable run-in she had with Andy, 55, at BravoCon and confirmed where the two of them stand today. Gina, 39, said that while she loves Andy, his comment about her $659,000 house was “out of line.”

“The thing is I love Andy. We all love Andy, but when you’re out of line, you’re out of line. And sometimes when you’re out of line, you need to be put back,” Gina stated on the December 14 episode of On Display With Melissa Gorga. “Honestly, it’s because I respect Andy that I felt that I could clap back to that in an honest but respectful way. And I knew that that was okay because I respect him and because he’s a good person.”

According to Gina, she heard back quickly from Andy after making it clear she was not happy that he had put a spotlight on the fact that her property was worth less than that of her castmates.

“I wasn’t surprised [when] I literally woke up to a text message from Andy apologizing,” she admitted.

Although Gina knows she’s in the game of “petty” when it comes to being part of the Real Housewives franchise, noting it as “part of [her] job,” she added that things are taken too far at times.

“We take shots at each other. I think he was just trying to stoke the fire there a little bit. I think it’s gotta be an incredibly hard job to walk that line, and sometimes you do cross it,” she stated. “I understand that, but I also understand that he’s a human being. I’m always going to try to defend myself, but I always try to do it in a respectful manner.”

Following their short-lived feud, Gina said they’re “good,” but acknowledged the tension between them at BravoCon.

“We’re good… It was a little uncomfortable for me at BravoCon cause it was the first time I had saw him… Also, you don’t want to make your boss upset,” she shared. “Nobody wants to piss off Andy… It was a little uncomfortable, but I said hello and then we were like, all good.”

The Real Housewives of Orange County season 18 is expected to go into production sometime in early 2024.
