Lauri Peterson‘s son, Josh Waring, is believed to have suffered a fatal drug overdose days after being released from jail.

After Josh’s older sister, Ashley Zarlin, said she had lost the Real Housewives of Orange County alum, 35, to the “relentless grip of addiction,” a report has confirmed how Josh was found on March 31 — just two days after he was released from jail amid ongoing run-ins with the law.

On April 8, law enforcement sources told TMZ that officers were called to an Orange County motel at around 11:30 a.m. on Easter Sunday after staff were unable to confirm if he had checked out of his room.

Upon arrival, police discovered Josh’s body, along with drug paraphernalia and residue, leading them to suspect a possible overdose.

According to a separate report from Radar Online, Josh’s death came just two days after he was released from custody after being behind bars for more than a month.

After previously being convicted of a shooting, after which he spent four years in prison, Josh was thrown behind bars for violating his release terms on February 21 by allegedly punching a security guard at a local medical center.

As the Orange County Police Department confirmed, Josh was supposed to remain incarcerated until next month, but he got out early and was expected to contact probation officials by April 1. After he failed to do so, due to his passing, a warrant was put out for his arrest.

Following Josh’s passing, an autopsy was completed and a toxicology report was conducted. However, because toxicology results can take weeks or even months to be completed, the official cause of death may not be known for some time.

Josh leaves behind daughter Kennedy, whom Lauri adopted in 2015 amid his legal and addiction struggles.
