Rebel Wilson memoir: Aussie actress Rebel Wilson defends naming Sacha Baron Cohen in her upcoming memoir Rebel Rising

Rebel Wilson has defended naming her former co-star Sacha Baron Cohen in her upcoming memoir Rebel Rising – after alleging he was an ”a–hole” to work with on set.

Wilson, 44, appeared on US’ Today and revealed why she wrote about Borat star Cohen, 52, in her book.

After Cohen issued a statement denying Wilson’s claims, the Australian actress claimed on the American morning TV show that “the book is 100 per cent honest and truthful”.

The pair worked together on The Brothers Grimsby back in 2016.

”Obviously, I have moved past it now, but it was my worst professional experience – and just feeling like humiliated and degraded as a person,” Wilson claimed.

”I thought it’s worth sharing in a book because there are probably a lot of people out there that have had the same experiences.”

Baron Cohen has denied Wilson’s allegations, stating they are “demonstrably false claims” which are contradicted by “extensive detailed evidence”.

She said she hopes that speaking out about her experience helps “some people feel not alone”.

The Pitch Perfect star added that writing her soon-to-be-released memoir was ”cathartic in a way”.

Wilson recently claimed that Baron Cohen tried to stop the release of her memoir, but he denied the claims and issued a statement.

”I will not be bullied or silenced with high priced lawyers or PR crisis managers,” she previously wrote on Instagram to her millions of followers.

“The ‘a–hole’ that I am talking about in ONE CHAPTER of my book is Sacha Baron Cohen,” she alleged.

Without naming Baron Cohen, Wilson had previously alleged on her Instagram Stories: “I wrote about an a–hole in my book. Now, said a–hole is trying to threaten me.”

“He’s hired a crisis PR manager and lawyers. He’s trying to stop press coming out about my new book. But the book WILL come out and you will all know the truth,” she previously alleged.

A spokesperson for Baron Cohen, who is married to Australian actress Isla Fisher, told CNN Wilson’s claims are false.

“While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of The Brothers Grimsby,” A spokesperson for Baron Cohen told CNN.
