Beloved Australian YouTube creator Pretty Pastel Please has died at the age of 30, according to an official social media statement.
The passing was announced in a post on her Instagram page, stating that it was “sudden, unexpected and devastating to all who knew her”.
“It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you that Alex, known to many as Pretty Pastel Please, has passed away,” the announcement read, sharing a picture of her with her pet bird.

“This is a shock to us all, and her family and friends have requested privacy as they navigate their grief. We would ask that you respect their wishes – they appreciate all of your support but need time to heal in private.”
A memorial will also be posted on YouTube and Instagram for fans to mourn.
Though the announcement did not specify the cause of death, it did mention that she passed away last month.

The YouTuber, whose real name was Alexandra or Alex for short, was known for her vlogs, fashion hauls and travel videos and began posting to the platform in December 2017.
Her channel – described as “fashion hauls, product reviews, thrift shopping, travel content and a talking parrot” – amassed 690,000 subscribers over the years. Her most popular video is one where she only ate food from a 7-Eleven in Japan for a week, garnering over 4 million views.
Other popular videos include one where her bird, Archie, “whispers” into a microphone for five minutes, as well as a $500 Wish haul video.

The creator’s last post on Instagram on May 24 informed fans that she would be regularly streaming on Twitch three times a week, with her last stream taking place on June 25. Her final YouTube video was a Temu haul posted one month earlier, on May 21.
Fans expressed their disbelief at the content creator’s passing in the comments section of the Instagram post.
”I’ve been watching her since I was just a teenager in school, this is one of the first contact creator deaths that actually feels personal although I could never begin to imagine the grief her loved ones feel. I’m so sorry,” one wrote.

“Rest in peace Alex. You were a joy to watch and follow these past years,” said another.
“There’s a part of me that still doesn’t believe this is real. Probably since I have watched Alex for such a long time and I still watch her videos whenever I’m feeling down so it’s not something I want to believe,” said one fan.
“It’s strange to think just how much she impacted my life even though we hadn’t directly met. I will still be watching her videos and thinking of her.”
