Pretty Baby: Controversial role Brooke Shields’ daughters feel ‘weird’ about
Brooke Shields‘ daughters have reacted to her being kissed at 11 by her Pretty Baby co-star.
Rowan and Grier have strong opinions about the controversial 1978 film, which saw their mother playing a 12-year-old being raised in a brothel.
“I don’t like this movie,” Grier, 18, told People. “I’ve seen enough of it on TikTok. I would prefer not to watch my mom being sold as an 11-year-old prostitute. I’d rather watch the funny and happy ones.”

As for the infamous scene where Keith Carradine kisses a young Shields: “That’s weird. She had to kiss someone [more than] twice her age,” Grier said.
Rowan, 21, added: “Your stage kiss does not count as a real kiss,” echoing what her mother said in her documentary, also named Pretty Baby.
“He [Carradine] told me it doesn’t count [as a first kiss], which was very sweet,” Shields said. “He was probably struggling too.”

The two sisters also spoke about their family life, with Rowan adding: “It’s not like I’m purposefully avoiding watching my mother. I loved Mother of the Bride and Castle for Christmas.”
“I love [it] when my mom does comedy,” Rowan added. “The Friends episode is when she was doing peak comedy.”
“Basically, I peaked in the 90s, according to her,” Shields joked.
The model and actress recently opened up about being an empty nester on Instagram when reality dawned on her and left her in tears.
“I am now officially an empty nester,” she said while holding back her emotions.
Shields said she’s glad her daughters are “together at least”, as they are both living at the same university, but having them out of the house is difficult.
“It’s not easy for the mums,” she said, stumbling over her words as she wiped away tears.
“I mean, it’s just so weird. So weird that she’s not here.”
Both Shields daughters are now studying at Wake Forest University in North Carolina – Rowan is a senior there, while Grier is starting her first year.
