Poppy Harlow To Depart CNN After 16 Years With Network

Poppy Harlow, who has been with CNN since 2008, is departing the network. Harlow announced her decision in a memo to colleagues.

She was offered a new role following the cancellation of CNN This Morning, but instead decided to leave, the network confirmed.

Harlow was co-host, along with Don Lemon and Kaitlan Collins, of CNN’s rebranded morning show, CNN This Morning, when it launched in November, 2022. Lemon was ousted from the network the following April, and Collins left for her primetime show the following June. Phil Mattingly joined as co-host, but the show itself was dropped earlier this year in a retool of the network morning schedule. There still is a CNN This Morning with anchor Kasie Hunt, but it has an earlier start time of 5 a.m.

Vanity Fair first reported on her departure. Harlow has not said what she plans to do next.

Harlow joined CNN in 2008 after serving as anchor for Forbes Video Network and an anchor and reporter for NY1 News. She has previously served as anchor of CNN Newsroom, and has anchored coverage of major events like the Boston marathon bombing, following it up with reporting on the recovering of several women injured in the attack.
