What started as a backyard get together in Perry ended with gunshots ringing out, Perry Police Capt. James Jones says. Now, they’re looking for a suspect.
PERRY, Ga. — An argument at a backyard party in Perry became violent Sunday morning, according to Perry Police Capt. James Jones.
They say it happened at around 4:21 a.m. in the 1300 block of Houston Street in Perry.
Jones says that an argument took place and, ultimately, shots rang out. The police department says the man was taken first to Perry Hospital by car for the gunshot wound before being transferred to Atrium Health Navicent. It is unclear what the victim’s status is at this time
Authorities are still working the scene Sunday afternoon, Jones said, and it is very early in their investigation.
No arrests have been made and the Perry Police Department is still trying to figure out who’s responsible.
They also don’t know whether there was one person responsible or if there were multiple shooters, Jones said. That’s why they’re asking people in the community for help.
“If anyone has any information, we’d love to have a phone call,” Jones said.
He says the citizens of Perry are crucial sources of information that help them solve cases.
Sometimes the community is able to provide pieces of the puzzle that help us fill in the void,” Jones said.
If anyone has information, they are asked to contact Detective Tayler Talley at 478-988-2833 or the Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
