Pink and Carey Hart’s Relationship Timeline: How they met, wedding, children and everything to know

In a recent Instagram post, Pink gave fans a rare insight into her relationship with her truck racer husband, Carey Hart.

Despite being married since 2006 and sharing two kids together, the singer revealed they “almost didn’t make it.”

The couple have had an on-and-off relationship over the years, so let’s take a look back at their love story, and how it all went down.

Sparks went flying when the pair met in August of 2001 at the Summer X Games, but unfortunately, before Hart could sweep Pink off her feet, he was swept off of his.

The Los Angeles Times reported that whilst attempting a mid-air flip on his bike, he fell and shattered his right foot, also breaking his tailbone and three ribs.

Pink told USA Today that his bad-boy charm wore off once she saw him injured. “After you spend a couple of nights in the hospital with him when he’s broken, the excitement wears off,” she told the publication.

The pair dated for the next two years until 2003, when they took their first of many breaks.

2003:

Pink and Hart broke up in 2003, keeping their split rather private; neither spoke out about the situation.

Pink later released a song that was rumoured to be based on their relationship, called Love Song. It focused on themes of love and the fears that come with fully trusting someone.

Thankfully the pair got back together about a year later.

Breaking gender norms, in the best way possible, Pink proposed to Hart during the Pro 250 class finals in California. While Hart was racing, she held out a sign that read “Will you marry me?”

Which she later added “serious” to, he stopped mid-race to accept her proposal.

The following year the pair tied the knot in Costa Rica in an intimate non-denominational ceremony. People reported the wedding was held on a beach sunset at the Four Seasons resort.

“We just love the beach, so we knew we wanted it to be at the beach,” Pink told the publication.

“We wanted it [to be] very fun and non-traditional. We’re spiritual, but we’re not religious. It was about being with our closest friends and family and having a very fun and loose party,” Hart added.

2008:

After two years of marriage, the pair split again, with Pink telling the Associated Press“This decision was made by best friends with a huge amount of love and respect for one another. While the marriage is over, their friendship has never been stronger.”

One good thing came out of this brief pause in their relationship, though. The song So What was released in the same year, which included the hugely successful lyrics, “Guess I just lost my husband, I don’t know where he went, So I’m gonna drink my money, I’m not gonna pay his rent.”

Hart later starred in the music video, released in 2009. What a good sport!

Tragedy struck later on in the year when Hart’s 21-year-old brother, Anthony, died of a traumatic head injury after he crashed during a practice run for a motorcycle race.

People reported that Pink attended his celebration of life alongside her estranged husband to support him and even performed a cover of 4 Non-Blondes What’s Up, dedicated to Anthony.

After 15 years of marriage, Pink told People, that they grew up together, “When you first get together, you look at that person as your entire world. One person can’t be your entire world. You have to have your own passions, your own friends, your own time to yourself.

“When I met you, 22 years ago, I just wanted someone that wouldn’t lie to me,” she wrote. “I didn’t have a clue about commitment, building a life together, intimacy, trust. It’s fucking hard. But man if I’m not humbled by the surprise of loyalty, history, forgiveness, and resilience.

“How love rearranges itself and reappears after an empty night or five. I’m proud we made it to the other side of this year. I wear our scars proudly. You are my stubborn, beautiful, immovable rock.”

Her post concluded, “The family we’ve built and the stories we have weaved together and the memories we continue to make are worth more than a thousand million awards that anyone could give me. I love you and I love us. #18years #improudofyou #family.”
