Peter Navy Tuiasosopo death: Street Fighter and The Fast and The Furious actor dies aged 61

Actor Peter Navy Tuiasosopo, known for his roles in Street Fighter and The Fast and The Furious, has died aged 61.

His son, Manoah Peter Tuiasosopo shared the sad news on Facebook.

“With a heavy heart, my family and I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers,” he wrote alongside several images of his dad with friends and family throughout the years.

“Our father Peter N. Tuiasosopo passed away this morning at 3:16am. My dad lived an amazing life and in no way does his impact stop here.”

Manoah went on to explain that he and his family plan to “continue to live” with Peter “in spirit”.

”As saddened as we are, he is without a doubt in Heaven with his brothers, sisters, parents, daughter, and Jesus, and no longer in pain,” he continued.

“His strength, love, compassion, and kindness will forever be felt.

“We thank you all again for your thoughts and prayers and ask for your continued support through this tough and emotional time.”

The post was signed by “Peter’s Wife, Kids, & Grandkids”.

There aren’t yet any plans for a funeral or celebration of life, however Monoah shared that when they are made the details will be announced.

Manoah did not reveal a cause of death in his Facebook post, however he shared with TMZ continued that his father died in Phoenix, Arizona of heart complications, adding that he was a “trailblazer for Polynesian actors in Hollywood”.

Peter scored his first film role on The Slender in 1991, going on to star in his first television series Danger Theatre in 1993.

Over the years he accumulated an impressive list of TV credits including eight episodes of Hawaii, seven episodes of Young and the Restless, as well as guest starring roles in several other series’ such as NCIS, Mob City, Ray Donovan, black-ish, Mayans M.C., Magnum P.I., and New Girl.

But he also found success on the big screen.

He starred as Willie Dumain in 12 Rounds alongside John Cena, as well as other films including Batman & Robin, Charlie’s Angels, Austin Powers in Gold Member, The Scorpion King and BASEketball.

Peter is survived by his wife Cheryl D. Leonard, children and grandchildren.
