Who Are The Gray Sisters?

Percy Jackson‘s Newest Additions Have Ties To His Mythic Namesake

Within the tales of Greek myth, the Graeae were the daughters of Phorcys and Ceto, related to both the terrifying Gorgons faced by Perseus and the Hesperides that Heracles would steal from during his labors. Appearing as aged old women in many accounts, the trio shared a single eye and tooth between one another, something Perseus would use to his advantage in his quest to slay Medusa, portrayed in Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 1 by Jessica Parker Kennedy. Alongside 2013’s Sea of Monsters adaptation, the sisters have been adapted in Disney’s Hercules and Clash of the Titans.

Percy Jackson season 2 promises to include exciting new characters and storylines, including Percy rescuing Blackjack and Annabeth meeting Circe.

In Riordan’s world, the Gray Sisters are operating a taxi firm in contemporary New York City for the cost of a gold Drachma, providing services for any demigod in need of quick transportation to the safety of Camp Half-Blood. However, their quickness is less of a positive selling point, and rather down to their lack of care for any speed limits and their shared body parts. However, with Percy being named after a hero that caused them much bother in the past, his ride with them in Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 will undoubtedly bring back some unpleasant memories.

While a smaller part of Percy’s journey in the second novel, the Gray Sisters’ presence is memorable due to their loyalty to the myth, and their unique modern careers. As such, bringing together three comedic powerhouses for their television debut is sure to leave a faithful impression on viewers, especially with Schaal’s previous experience with macabre supernatural comedy as The Guide in What We Do In The Shadows. With the Gray Sisters’ actors confirmed, it may not be long until the trio emerge on Percy Jackson and the Olympian‘s set in full costume.
