One Piece Season 2’s Zoro Change Is A Massive Relief Ahead Of His Mr. 1 Fight

Summary

  • One Piece season 2 will include better fight scenes for Zoro, allowing viewers to witness his evolution as a character and a fighter.
  • Zoro’s best fight scenes are yet to come in One Piece, particularly against formidable opponents like Mr. 1.
  • The second season has the potential to showcase Zoro’s dream of becoming a master swordsman and exceed the caliber of opponents he faced in the first season.

One of the things that made the live-action One Piece‘s first season such a huge success was its treatment of the source material’s arcs and characters, but season 2 can develop Zoro and the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates even further. While the Netflix adaptation took some liberties with the pacing of the first season’s events, the characters largely remained the same throughout the eight-episode action-adventure TV series. Nevertheless, One Piece remained compelling and dramatic throughout each episode, and the show’s handling of Roronoa Zoro stood as one of the highlights of the season.

While it remains to be seen when One Piece season 2 will arrive and which arcs it will cover specifically, the live-action version of Zoro will undoubtedly experience plenty of attention as he starts coming into his own after the first few arcs of the manga. While the beloved character starts the series aloof and terse, he eventually warms up to Luffy’s perpetual optimism and joy and eventually finds himself opening up more to the would-be King of the Pirates and the rest of their crew. However, there’s still a big obstacle that One Piece season 2 has to overcome to truly do Zoro justice.

One Piece Season 2 Will Include Better Fight Scenes For Zoro

Zoro’s best fight in One Piece season 1 was against Dracule Mihawk.

Although One Piece season 1 had some great fight scenes, Zoro didn’t get to face his more dangerous and skilled foes. However, according to Zoro actor Mackenyu, One Piece season 2 will have better fight scenes. This is great because it raises the bar for what the show can achieve, but more importantly, it guarantees that viewers will get an opportunity to witness Zoro evolve as a character and a fighter. One Piece set the stage perfectly by showing Zoro’s defeat at the hands of Dracule Mihawk, but season 2 can show Zoro fighting other great foes before having his rematch with Mihawk.

Zoro’s Best Fight Scenes Are Yet To Come In One Piece

One of Zoro’s toughest opponents in the Arabasta Arc is Daz Bones, a.k.a. Mr. 1.

Although Zoro is shown to be one of the strongest members of his crew, his defeat at Mihawk’s hands in One Piece inspires in him the desire to take his training and skills to the next level. In doing so, he develops new styles and techniques necessary to become the greatest swordsman who ever lived. Furthermore, the first season of One Piece foreshadows Zoro’s best fight when he defeats Mr. 7. This means Zoro versus Mr. 1 will happen closer to the end of One Piece season 2, but there’s more that can be done to set the fight up.

Zoro can engage in his memorable fight against Baroque Works, a group of deadly assassins whose numbers reach the hundreds, thus sharpening his skills. Afterward, Zoro’s iconic fight scene against Daz Bones, a.k.a. Mr. 1, could occur closer to the end of the second season and solidify Zoro’s dream of becoming a master swordsman. While the first season treated audiences to some well-choreographed fight scenes regarding the Straw Hat pirates and their foes, One Piece season 2 has the potential to go even further with the caliber of opponents that Zoro can fight. Hopefully, the producers will include Zoro’s better fights from the manga in One Piece season 2.
