One dead after early morning crash in Macon

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said the accident, involving a teenager and 20-year-old, happened just before 4 a.m. on Sunday.

MACON, Ga. — A teenager is dead after a crash in Bloomfield early Sunday morning, according to a release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the release, Jakayla Holman, 19, was riding in the passenger seat, while a 20-year-old was driving south on Bloomfield Road just before 4 a.m. on Sunday.

The release said deputies found a 2025 Kia Seoul crashed into a pole after receiving a call about a traffic accident. Both Holman and the 20-year-old were unresponsive.

The release said Holman was pronounced dead at the scene by deputy coroner Ronnie Miley. The next of kin has been informed. The driver was brought to Atrium Health Navicent and is listed in critical, but stable condition.

It’s currently unclear what caused the driver to crash into a pole, but the sheriff’s office is investigating. If anyone has further information about the accident, they can call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 and ask to speak with a Fatality Investigator.
