‘Off Campus’ Series Based On Elle Kennedy Books Ordered By Prime Video
EXCLUSIVE: Following the outsized success of Prime Video‘s YA drama The Summer I Turned Pretty, Amazon is bringing another popular romantic book series to the screen. The streamer has given a series order to Off Campus, a college-set romantic drama based on the international best-selling novels by Elle Kennedy, with Louisa Levy (Death and Other Details) serving as showrunner.
The TV adaptation, produced by Amazon MGM Studios, is starting the way the book series does, with the first season based on the first novel, the 2015 The Deal, following the unlikely romance between a wry, hockey-hating music major and Briar University’s playboy star center.
There are 5 books in Kennedy’s Off-Campus series, which depicts the elite ice hockey team, and the women in their lives, as they grapple with love, heartbreak, and self-discovery—forging deep friendships and enduring bonds while navigating the complexities that come with transitioning into adulthood.
Levy executive produces alongside Temple Hill’s Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen (Twilight), Leanna Billings via her banner Billings Productions, and Neal Flaherty. Kennedy serves as producer.
“Elle Kennedy’s beloved Off-Campus series, has resonated with a massive audience by tackling relatable topics from self-discovery to the power of connection,” said Vernon Sanders, head of television, Amazon MGM Studios. “With Louisa Levy guiding our series alongside Temple Hill, Leanna, and Neal, our global Prime Video customers will fall in love with this story all over again.”
Off Campus was shepherded by Temple Hill executive Annika Patton and will be overseen by Temple Hill TV executive James Seidman. The company is repped by UTA and Ziffren. Flaherty is represented by The Nord Group.
The Off-Campus book series has sold approx. 3 million copies on Amazon across 24 markets. Kennedy’s works have been translated into over 25 languages and sold over 10 million copies worldwide. She is repped by Kimberly Brower at Brower Literary & Management.
Levy got her start as an assistant to Tony Phelan and Joan Rater when they were co-showrunners of Grey’s Anatomy, with the duo subsequently giving Levy her first job staff writer job on their CBS series Doubt. She went on to work on the CW’s In The Dark, ABC’s Stumptown, Max’s The Flight Attendant and most recently Hulu’s Death And Other Details, rising to co-executive producer. Levy is reppd by UTA and Lichter Grossman Nichols Adler.
