Nintendo Switch firmware updated to Version 18.0.1 (patch notes)

Nintendo hasn’t really been doing much with the Switch’s firmware lately. The last few updates, including the version 17.0.0 and 18.0.0 ones, contained very little new additions. In fact, at least a third of the Switch updates that have been released in the past 10 months have been “rebootless” updates.

Well, Nintendo has released a new update just a bit ago. Once you update, the Switch’s firmware should now be at version 18.0.1. It’s not surprising, but this update doesn’t really do much. Its focus is for fixing an issue related to wireless access points. You can see the official patch notes in full down below.

  • Fixed an issue where some wireless access points cannot be found when setting up a new wireless network.
    • If you’re unable to update to Version 18.0.1 because of the issue, temporarily change the security settings for your wireless network to use only “WPA2 (AES)” so you can connect wirelessly to download and install the system update.
    • After updating to Version 18.0.1, restore your network’s security settings to its previous settings.
  • General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.
