Natasha Richardson’s family, friends share tributes to actress on 15th anniversary of her death

Friends and family of Natasha Richardson have paid tribute to the late actress on the 15th anniversary of her death.

The Parent Trap star tragically died in New York in 2009 at the age of 45 following a skiing accident in Canada.

Her sister Joely Richardson, 59, shared a tribute post to Natasha and revealed what she once said about the idea of dying.

Underneath a throwback picture of Natasha with actor Ethan Hawke, Joely wrote: “I chose this picture as it’s the fun mischievous side of Tash.”

“Richard Eyre said at her memorial ‘it’s so hard to understand why she’s suddenly gone because she was the most Alive person I’d ever met’.

“Tash was a great celebrator of other people’s achievements – got so excited and happy for them – had mini Oscar made for Ethan when he got nominated,” she continued.

“We went to see ‘Moulin Rouge’ ( Baz Luhrmann film) at the Ziegfeld in NY. When we came out she said to me ‘if I had to go I’d like it to be like that – at my peak’.

“Well Tash, you did, 15 years ago today – loved to the hilt ♥️.”

Natasha’s son Daniel Neeson, 27, who she shared with actor Liam Neeson, also shared a heartbreaking tribute to his late mother.

Underneath a stunning black and white portrait of her, he wrote: “15 years since you’ve left this plane onto forever more.”

“I look forward to reuniting one day but for now I take solace in knowing you’re beside me every step of the way.

“Hopefully, I’m making you proud… My aunt @joelyrichardsonsinsta who always brightens my day, said to me this week, that we sometimes forget that we’re on an ever spinning planet. Change is inevitable, and we must embrace it with open arms.”

American TV presenter Andy Cohen also shared a touching tribute to the late Natasha and shared some unseen snaps of them together.

“Fifteen years ago today, heaven got a new angel,” Cohen wrote.

“Natasha was ‘perfectly marvelous’… and left a profound impact on her friends, and on millions who she touched as an artist.

“I’m trying to put into words the effect she had on my personal trajectory and one way I’m thinking is that she unlocked a window into the world that I’d never considered.”

He added in part of his post: “If you can, raise a glass today to the great Natasha Richardson and let her know we all miss her down here. ♥️”

Richardson was 45 when she died from head injuries after she fell and hit her head on a ski slope in Montreal, Canada.
