Movie featuring Samuel L. Jackson filming in Macon, Georgia

MACON, Ga. — Filming for the new movie, “The Piano Lesson” with Samuel L. Jackson, will cause road closures in Macon starting today.

On January 8, Bay Street between Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Seventh Street as well as Sixth Street between Hazel Street and Bay Street will be closed. Then on January 10th and 11th, Roff Avenue between Holt Avenue and Hendley Street will be closed.

The movie is set in 1936 Pittsburgh after the Great Depression. It follows the lives of the Doaker Charles house, the family piano and the carving made by their enslaved ancestor. Jackson will be joined on the screen alongside Ray Fisher, Danielle Deadwyler, John David Washington and Erykah Badu.

“They fell in love with what they saw here in Macon and wanted to film a few more scenes they felt we were perfect for,” says Aaron Buzza, Senior Vice President & COO. “The film industry continues to recognize us a prime location because they can film scenes from many different decades across a multitude of landscapes and backgrounds.”

It joins a long line of films and TV shows that have been filmed in Macon-Bibb including  “Trouble with the Curve”, “42”, “Need For Speed”,  “The Color Purple”, “The Vampire Diaries”, “Watchmen”, “Lovecraft Country” and “Zombieland: Double Tap”.
