Travis Kelce seems like a simple enough name to pronounce right? Apparently not. As it turns out, we have all been mispronouncing Taylor Swift’s boyfriend’s last name.
NFL defensive tackle Chris Jones has given us all a new take on his Kansas City Chiefs teammate.
In an NFL posted online, Jones is seen telling two other Chiefs players: “So y’all know it’s not even Travis Kel-see?”
One, who clearly didn’t, asked, “What is it?”
“It’s Travis Kels,” Jones responded. “F–king crazy, right?”
This was proved on an episode of Kelce’s New Heights podcast, where he and his brother Jason Kelce confronted their dad about never correcting people on the pronunciation.
“Why in the world did you change your name out of nowhere and now we are Kel-see?” Jason asked. “Why did we think that our name was Kel-see for the first 24 years… 27 years of my life, 25 of Trav’s.”
Their dad, Ed, confessed he simply, “got tired of correcting people.”
“That’s a good reason to stop,” Jason joked. “That’s as good as I’ve heard. So you changed your entire family’s name over generations because you were tired of correcting people.”
