Monique Samuels is returning to The Real Housewives of Potomac cast for season 10.
Following the series exits of Karen Huger, 62, who is currently serving time behind bars for a DUI charge, and Mia Thornton, 40, who moved to Atlanta after season nine, Monique, 41, is joining Gizelle Bryant, 54, Ashley Darby, 36, Wendy Osefo, 41, Stacey Rusch, 40, and Keiarna Stewart, 37, in a friend role for the upcoming episodes.
“Monique’s in a totally different place now, and fans will see that,” a source revealed to PEOPLE on June 7. “She’s excited to show who she is now — not as a wife, not as just a mom, but as a woman starting over and taking on life on her own terms.”
After quitting the show in 2020 after a heated dispute with Candiace Dillard-Bassett, 38, amid season five, Monique went on to appear on OWN’s Love & Marriage: DC in 2022 with Chris Samuels, 48. Unfortunately, their marriage unraveled shortly thereafter, and in September 2023, after 11 years of marriage and three kids, including Christopher, 12, Milani, 9, and Chase, 6, their divorce was finalized.
Following her season five fight with Candiace, Monique, who joined the cast in 2017 for season two, announced her exit on Instagram, telling her fans and followers, “I’m over it.”
“It was a crazy ride. It’s not easy doing reality TV. I appreciate everything that people have done for me, everybody that’s been Team Monique — I love y’all, I thank y’all — but when you cross certain lines there’s no going back. And for me, my family is that line.”
“The opinion of my family and my kids and what they think about anything that I do is more valuable than anybody’s opinion,” she added.
News of Monique’s return comes just months after she denied rumors of a comeback on Instagram.
After sharing a post in which she announced that she was “free of my past, open to the future, [and] here in the NOW,” Monique was met with a comment from a fan who wrote, “It’s a post going around on Twitter saying you coming back to RHOP for season 10. Is that true?”
“Not true, boo,” she replied.
The Real Housewives of Potomac is currently in production and expected to premiere on Bravo sometime later this year.
