Melbourne Cup Carnival news: Elizabeth Hurley and son Damian Hurley will be at Flemington Racecourse

Spring racing season just got a little bit sweeter thanks to two very important people.

British actress and model Elizabeth Hurley – as well as her son, 22-year-old model and actor Damian Hurley – will be attending the Melbourne Cup Carnival as special guests of the Victoria Racing Club.

“Damian and I are thrilled to be coming to Australia to celebrate the Melbourne Cup Carnival with the Victoria Racing Club,” the Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery star, 59, said in an announcement this morning.

“Watched by millions across the globe, we are looking forward to being at Flemington to experience the event first-hand and hopefully find a winner along the way,” she continued.

“We are also very much looking forward to all the fashion and entertainment that makes this carnival truly unique.”

Lauded as one of the most glamorous women in the world, Elizabeth and her son will attend Lexus Melbourne Cup Day and Crown Oaks Day in the VRC Committee Room, and will also grace Flemington’s famous Birdcage Enclosure with their presence.

They will also attend the post-Melbourne Cup Day Crown Oaks Club lunch, and will announce the winners of the coveted Best Suited and Best Dressed titles at the iconic Fashions on the Field in The Park.

The last time Elizabeth was in Australia was 11 years ago, with her then-fiancé – the late Shane Warne.

It was at the races where Elizabeth and Warne met in July 2010, and the former couple would go on to become engaged in Sri Lanka in 2011.

They split in 2013, though were on good terms prior to Warne’s death in 2022.

”I feel like the sun has gone behind a cloud forever. RIP my beloved Lionheart [Warne],” Elizabeth wrote on Instagram in the aftermath.

She also dedicated International Women’s Day 2022 to Warne’s “brave, beautiful” daughters Brooke Warne and Summer Warne, writing on Instagram: “I love you both so much and have the happiest memories of our times together. Your daddy loved you with all his heart.”

Brooke, 27, Summer, 22, and their brother Jackson Warne, 25, all live in Melbourne.
