Election season is finally over and now it’s time to get back in touch with the things that bring us joy!

Whether you and your family are looking for a live theater show to attend, such as the upcoming Miracle Worker and Murder on the Orient Express, or want to see a keiki hula competition or check out the No Ka ‘Oi Songwriters Festival at Grand Wailea Molokini Garden, there’s plenty of action this weekend to bring you back to the beauty our island community has to offer.

1. No Ka ‘Oi Songwriters Festival (Thursday-Saturday, Nov.7-9; times vary, South Maui): Featuring Kassi Ashton, Brad Warren, Jessi Alexander, Lukas Nelson, Jeffrey Steele, Jared Keim, Jerry Flowers, Preston Cooper and friends. Hosted by celebrity radio personality Storme Warren from the Big 615 on TuneIn satellite radio. Events will be happening all weekend from performances at Three’s Bar & Grill to a grand finale at the No Ka ‘Oi Songwriters Festival at Molokini Gardens at the Grand Wailea. Prices vary. 2. The TreeCircus (Thursday, Nov. 7; 6:30 p.m., Kihei): Bring the kids to The TreeCircus, a fun, energetic stage show for all ages, all about TREES – from basic tree biology, to tree care, conservation, the environment and a healthy planet. Head to the ProArts Theater in Kihei at 1280 S. Kihei Rd. in the Azeka Plaza. During the week, the TreeCircus will be giving five free performances at three elementary schools on Maui. Performances are sponsored by the WCISA, Western Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture, and hosted by Maui Green & Beautiful, a local non-profit focusing on trees. No reservations needed. Free admission.

3. The Miracle Worker (Friday and Sunday, Nov. 8-Nov.10; 7:30 p.m., 3 p.m. on Sunday, Wailuku): Bring the family out to The Miracle Worker, brought to life by the talented thespians of Baldwin Theatre Guild. Head out and support the local youth and celebrate the arts in our community! Get Tickets at waveofharmony.org. Prices range from $10 for adults, $3 for children 11 and under, students 12-17 tickets cost $5, senior citizens tickets cost $8. The Cast and Crew are Baldwin High School Performing Arts Learning Center (PALC) students and put together every aspect of the production. The Miracle Worker centers around Helen Keller’s story. Located at the Baldwin Theatre Guild at 1650 West Kaahumanu Avenue, Wailuku.

4. Murder on the Orient Express (Friday-Sunday, Nov. 8-Nov. 10; 7:30 p.m. & 3 p.m., Wailuku): Maui OnStage opens Agatha Christie’s classic mystery “Murder on the Orient Express” on Friday, Nov. 8 at the Historic ʻĪao Theater. The play runs for three weekends. The show times are Fridays at 7:30 p.m., and two matinées on Saturdays and Sundays at 3 p.m. Show dates are as follows: Nov. 8-10, Nov. 15-17 and Nov. 22-24. Tickets are $25 to $45, and $10 for children 12 and under. Maui OnStage advises minimal adult language and simulated violence. 5. Seven Suns with special guests Ka’ikena Scanlan & Kala’e Parish live at Maui Arts & Cultural Center (Friday, Nov. 8; 7:30 p.m., Kahului): From the heart of Oceania, Seven Suns includes a collective of seven diverse souls–artists, producers, engineers, backup musicians, and musical directors. Head to the MACC this Friday for the show. Tickets start around $25 and $35 for reserved seats and $45 for exclusive access to the Dance Floor in front of the stage. Prices increase the day of the show.

6. Hula O Nā Keiki (Friday, Nov. 8 & Nov. 9; 4 p.m.-7 p.m., Lahaina): Check out Hula O Nā Keiki at OUTRIGGER Kāʻanapali Beach Resort. The three-day event offers children ages 6 to 17 the opportunity to perform both traditional (kahiko) and contemporary (‘auana) hula in front of an engaged audience. There will also be a Hawaiian Arts Market on each day featuring offerings from local artisans, cultural exhibits & workshops. Tickets for Hula O Nā Keiki are $20 and are now available for purchase.

7. St. Anthony Church Fall Festival (Saturday, Nov. 9; 8 a.m.-3 p.m., Wailuku): A day of fun, food, and fellowship for the ‘ohana. Live entertainment, keiki games, crafts, Country Store, ono grinds, different vendors, baked goods, plants, etc. Proceeds help with the parish Building Fund. FREE to everyone!

8. The 11th Annual “Malama the Trees” (Saturday, Nov. 9; 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., Wailuku): A FREE educational talk for the community, arborists, and landscape professionals presented by Maui Green & Beautiful (MG&B). Located at J. Walter Cameron Center Auditorium at 95 Mahalani Street in Wailuku.

9. 2nd Saturday Chop Suey Jazz Orchestra and King Kekaulike High School Jazz Band (Saturday, Nov. 9; 5 p.m.- 8 p.m., South Maui): Enjoy live jazz music by Chop Suey Jazz Orchestra and Kekaulike High School Band. They’ll be performing at the Prince Building in the heart of the South Maui gardens, setting the stage for dancing and good vibes.The ‘Oli ‘Oli Club will also be in the gardens from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. with FREE creative activities for keiki of all ages!

10. Wailuku Farmer’s Market Sunday, Nov.10; 9 a.m.-1 p.m.; Wailuku): Wailuku Community Farmer’s Market is coming to Wailuku Shingon Mission starting Sunday November 10th! On the Second and Fourth Sundays a month, come to 1939 North Street, Old Wailuku Town, for fresh, local, and organic produce – as well as high quality gifts, crafts and wellness products.
