Meg Ryan Has No Time for ‘Nepo Baby’ Discourse When It Comes to Her Son, Jack Quaid

All moms like to think their kids are talented, but Glamour cover star Meg Ryan has been in the business long enough to know when someone has it or doesn’t, and like it or not, her 31-year-old son Jack has it.

Despite knowing fame is, in many ways, “too hard” and “too weird,” Ryan realized early on that Jack Quaid, her son whom she shares with ex-husband and fellow actor Dennis Quaid, was destined for a career in Hollywood. “I remember seeing him in a middle school production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” Ryan told Glamour in this month’s cover story. “He was playing Bottom. I was newly divorced from his dad, [who] was seated at the other side of the gym. I had my head in my hands and was like, ‘Oh, no. He’s good. He’s really good.’ I leaned forward, and I see Dennis, and he’s also leaning forward with his head in his hands. I just knew.”

Thankfully, the younger Quaid seems to be enjoying the perks of business and is avoiding most of its pitfalls. He’s scandal-free and stars in hit Amazon series The Boys—which is why Ryan would like the world to take note of his work alongside his lineage. “Jack is really talented. He’s more of a natural than I’ll ever be,” she said. “That nepo stuff is so dismissive of his work ethic, his gifts, and how sensitive he is to the idea of his privilege.”
