Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was the first Harry Potter movie spinoff, and though it never reached the success of the movies following Harry’s story, it was a good start. Unfortunately, between controversies and a plot that was simultaneously dragged out and rushed, it looks as if Fantastic Beasts will end with the third installment (despite the original plan for five films).
However, the news that Warner Bros Discover is open to creating more than just the Harry Potter TV remake opens the door for Fantastic Beasts to continue in a new format. A significant problem for the films is that they simply got too complicated, with confused jumps in focus between Newt, his beasts, Dumbledore, Grindelwald, and the political climate of the wizarding world. As a TV show, this story could be organized far more efficiently. So, since there hasn’t been any word on the possibility of Fantastic Beasts 4, this news from Warner Bros Discovery could mean a TV series will be on the way instead.

However, it’s always possible that Cursed Child will be one of these other TV shows.

In all, the adventures of young Albus Potter and Scorpius Malfoy were designed with the thrill of theatre in mind so the established story wouldn’t hold up the same way on screen. A movie could only dig just beneath the surface of what the play established but a Cursed Child TV series could go much further into Harry Potter’s future. This would provide a closer look at his life after Voldemort’s downfall. In truth, the possibilities are endless.

Another story worth expanding would be one following the Hogwarts Founders, primarily since very little is known about their lives in the Middle Ages.
