Mad Cave Studios’s young adult imprint, Maverick, has announced a new graphic novel about two high school frenemies, and The Beat has all the details. Debuting in May 2025, Sarah and Darah follows the pair during an explosive senior year at a prestigious high school where Darah’s quest for vengeance could destroy Sarah’s life.
Sarah and Darah is written by David Pinckney and illustrated by Pía Prado with letters by Dave Sharpe. Here’s the full synopsis:
Scandals and heartache are coming to the prestigious PANORAMA HIGH where only the best of the best attend. As senior year is about to start and the graduates embark on their futures, with some attending college and others focusing on burgeoning careers, one girl (Darah) will stir the pot and feed any potential scandals with her sight on one particular girl (Sarah).
At age 12, Darah, the exiled daughter of Thomas Benson, the butler of The Havenmeyers, returns after five years to seek revenge on Sarah Havemeyer, the girl who “destroyed” her life. It was Sarah’s information that made their parents exile Darah to live in Alaska to live with her grandmother where she had no life whatsoever. Now, after her grandmother passes away, Thomas pleads with his boss (Donatella Havenmeyer), to allow Darah to live at the Mansion with him and attend Senior year at the same school Sarah and her brother go to. Darah returns and although she plays nice with everyone and supposedly has let bygones be bygones, she wants to destroy Sarah by knocking her off her social pedestal by taking her place.
