Mattel celebrates BarbieLand with the Mini Mojo Dojo Casa House exclusive

The Mattel displays at San Diego Comic-Con rank as one of the most visited and photographed exhibits during the four-day event. Booth #3029 did not disappoint as gawkers and casual fans packed the displays like sardines on preview night, angling for a snapshot of its latest playthings.

Mattel Creations unveiled 12 new collectibles for the 2024 show—including two convention exclusives—with Barbie’s Mini Mojo Dojo Casa House commanding attention with its preview night debut.

“This is the first time that Barbie has been at Comic-Con,” notes Matt Brutocao, Vice President of Barbie Global Brand Marketing at Mattel. “In the past, we had Barbie with Wonder Woman or Barbie with another character. But this is all about Barbie, and the reason, of course, is that the Barbie movie came out a year ago.”

The recently-launched Mini BarbieLand comes on the heels of Barbie’s big-screen success. Exclusive to SDCC ’24, the Mini Mojo Dojo Casa House is the tiny replica of Barbie’s Dreamhouse that Ken remakes into a man cave after learning about patriarchy in the real world. A mini-Ken figure in denim is included in the playset, along with Ken’s movie guitar, telescope, fridges, and baseball mitt chair. The playset retails for $50.

Mattel representatives have kept mum about inventory levels during SDCC weekend, but as of the conclusion of preview night, Mini Mojo Dojo Casa Houses were still available. Lottery ticket holders receive first dibs daily, with any excess inventory remaining to be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

The other SDCC ’24-exclusive item Mattel is selling is the Jurassic World Jimmy Buffett figure, which was inspired by Buffett’s cameo in the 2015 film and his Margaritaville connection. Jurassic World Jimmy Buffett retails for $30. As with the Mini Mojo Dojo Casa House, lottery ticket holders get first pick.

Other collectibles on display at the Mattel booth include the diecast Hot Wheels® Batmobile set, which includes a six-pack of mini-vehicles representing six Batman series, both animated and big screen; the Hot Wheels® Star Wars Royal Naboo Starship from The Phantom Menace, and the Hot Wheels® RacerVerse Marvel Secret Wars diecast Wolverine and Spider-Man figures harkening back to the original issue #1 cover.
