Marysol Patton is a force to be reckoned with on the Real Housewives of Miami. She started as a full-time Housewife when the show first began. However, after Peacock rebooted the series, she became an official ‘friend of’ on the show.
Still, she is among the most talked about cast members. She has a unique point of view as a person who was on the show originally, and now, years later, she gets to experience it after it has become so popular. Now, she’s talking about her experiences on the show, how she came to audition, and what she thinks of the new Housewives on the show.
As fans know, RHOM currently stars Guerdy Abraira, Lisa Hochstein, Julia Lemigova, Nicole Martin, Alexia Nepola, and Larsa Pippen as Housewives. The official friends on the show are Kiki Barth, Adriana de Moura, and Marysol.
Marysol is telling all in an interview with Bustle. She was first asked about her audition and tells the story of being in New York for the birthday party of Paul Beck, the ex-husband of Donatella Versace. While there, she started to feel a bit off and like she was “only laughing out of one side of [her] face.” Though she didn’t say it in the interview, it sounds like she may have been having an allergic reaction.
Then, after returning to Miami, she had a ton of messages from the producers of the show wanting women to audition. In a nutshell, she decided to go for it despite still feeling a bit off.
In talking specifically about the audition, Marysol said, “When I went to try out, I was like this [Marysol lifts her right eyelid and one side of her lip], my face was all twisted. I was drooling. It was a hot mess. But I sat there, and I was very self-deprecating. For some reason, they liked that, and I got the job.”
Marysol then recalled one time when she got an unfair edit on the show during its earlier days.
“In Season 2, I was arguing with [Lisa Pliner] and trying to prove my point. Then, she admitted I was right, and [the show] cut that out,” recalled Maryol. “I called [the producers] like, ‘You need to put it back in because I’m not going to look like a liar and a mean person when she admitted to saying exactly what I said she said.’”
She also discussed hot mics and how they used to deal with them on the show.
“Back in the day, we used to go in the bathroom and unplug our mics, but you can’t do that anymore because you’ll destroy it. Or we’ll speak in Spanish, but now they got translators. “
As for how they avoid unwanted mics now, she said, “There’s no getting away with that anymore.”
Marysol also addressed confessional looks and who has had the worst ones. According to her, “Adriana’s had some pretty wacky looks. I can’t stand the gloves everybody wears.”
She continued, “And listen, I’m not one to talk. I showed up looking like a bird in one of mine, with claw fingers and feathers. That one was bad.”
She also discussed the show itself. She admits to being taken aback by the new people at first. However, after watching the show, she remembers saying, “You know what? They know what they’re doing.” She also admits that she’d be open to being a full-time Housewife again, especially for the money.
