Marvel is Ready to Pit Galactus Against the One Foe Godzilla Never Ever Messes With

Things are about to get crazy when Godzilla and his collection of foes make their way to the Marvel Universe and face the infamous world-eater Galactus. Next year, the King of the Monsters is starring in an epic crossover event that unites him with Marvel’s greatest heroes and villains, while Godzilla’s foes have their own unique match-ups.

Marvel Comics and Godzilla.com announced that next March, the comic book publisher would put out Godzilla vs. Marvel, a six-issue crossover event that would pit the film-famous kaiju up against heroes such as Thor and Spider-Man. The series will span several decades, starting with Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four by Ryan North and John Romita, Jr.

However, it won’t just be the King of the Monsters fighting Marvel’s First Family. The comic will also see Galactus selecting Godzilla’s nemesis King Ghidorah as Galactus’ new herald and imbuing him with the Power Cosmic, making the evil kaiju more powerful than ever.

Galactus is Giving Godzilla’s Foe King Ghidorah Cosmic Power

This Dangerous Alliance isn’t Likely to Last

King Ghidorah is one of Godzilla’s most-recurring enemies, and the closest thing he has to an archenemy. The three-headed alien is a cruel and powerful being that comes from space, who often comes to Earth with one intention: Destroy all life on Earth. No matter his true motivations, King Ghidorah brings chaos to the world in the same way that Godzilla tries to restore order. Though Godzilla has always come out on top in his battles against giant monsters, King Ghidorah’s raw strength and surprising array of powers have allowed him to get the upper hand on Godzilla numerous times.

The idea of King Ghidorah becoming a herald of Galactus is a frightening one indeed. The kaiju is one of the most powerful monsters around on his own and giving him the Power Cosmic would turn him into a veritable god. Another thing to consider is that King Ghidorah isn’t one to take orders from anyone, even a godlike entity like Galactus. Granted, King Ghidorah wouldn’t be the first herald to turn on the outrageously powerful force. But what’s going to happen when these two unstoppable forces reach an impasse (and will Godzilla be able to do anything about it)?

Galactus vs. King Ghidorah Could Tear the Marvel Universe Apart

The Fantastic Four Are Going to Need to Improve Godzilla

The Fantastic Four have dealt with Galactus and his heralds for years, but throwing in a wild card like King Ghidorah just makes it an even more dangerous situation. Before any potential battle occurs, the team will need to remove King Ghidorah (because they sure as hell can’t get rid of Galactus easily). Perhaps giving Godzilla some super-advanced tech or weaponry would help. Even the Silver Surfer could share some of his power to help him take on the new and improved King Ghidorah. But something needs to happen, because otherwise, Godzilla’s nemesis could destroy the Marvel Universe.

Godzilla vs. Marvel is available from Marvel Comics March 2025.
